Stewart Materials Donates Beach Sand
June 2, 2017
Stewart Materials announced it has donated beach sand to The City of Fort Myers for a new four-court volleyball complex. The courts are located in downtown Fort Myers at 2277 Grand Ave. “We are happy to support the City of Fort Myers as it adds environmentally-friendly, activity amenities for use by its residents and visitors,” said Stewart Materials Founder & Chief Executive Officer Nick Stewart. “The materials are superb. The community will enjoy them for years to come.”
The new complex meets a growing demand for recreational space in Fort Myers. “Our city volleyball leagues grew so much over the past few years that we were forced to turn teams away,” commented City of Ft. Myers Program Coordinator Adam Lightfoot. “We now have the opportunity to not only offer all ages a fun and safe place to play volleyball, but also a venue to participate in a variety of other beach activities, including beach tennis, soccer, flag football, yoga and outdoor movie nights.”
The City of Fort Myers Recreation Division has partnered with Extreme Volleyball Professionals to offer youth academies, training, tournaments, and leagues. Adult programs will include Beginner 4’s, Intermediate 4’s, Advance 4’s, Coed Doubles A & B Division, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Sunday 3’s, and a Senior Division. Tournaments and open play will also be hosted at the complex.
